CVO Pro Breakout 2016 – Harley Davidson breaks out into a new world
At long last, Harley-Davidson has noticed that its traditional market. the Baby Boomer generation of riders, are becoming too frail, dropping off their perches or no longer have the mental faculties to remember where they parked their bikes. So, some bright spark (geddit?!) thought it time to drop down the age range a bit and target the younger, up-an’-coming generation, get them weened onto the brand in the expectation they’ll stick with it thro the rest of their lives. So, enter the CVO Pro Breakout 2016!
Make no mistake, this machine is a straight-line speed freak! With its Screamin’ Eagle 110B motor drumming out around 112 foot pounds of torques (as the UK’s Jeremy Clarkson would have it), a massive Heavy Breather Elite intake is not only good to look at but vital to get all that oxygen to where it’s needed. Coupled with a tight 6-speed box, you’ll be howling down the strip in an envelope of sound that says “Move over, grandpa, I’m comin’ thro!”. The the new smoked satin chrome finish on the motor give it a great sinister look, continuing a theme started with some of the original 2016 lineup like the Fat Boy S.
You’ve got twin, ABS-controlled, floating discs on the front and a wide tire at the back to make sure you’re always gripping the pavement whether roaring off or slowing down for grandpa out in front. Cruise control, new ergonomic levers for both clutch and brake mean less strain on your hands and arms.
Stylewise, it’s punchy. It looks the part it’s meant to be – raw American power, thrusting you forward. The low, race-styled seat gives that added feeling of solidity and means you’re cornering on a low centre of gravity at all times. Smoked satin-brushed bars are different and to be honest, not sure about them. But, hey, something even I can get used to when you take in the whole package.
So, where do we place the CVO Pro Breakout 2016? If you’re in the market for a mean machine, clocking in around $26 big ones, and you’re not drawing your pension, get down to your H-D store and check it out (you may need ID to prove you’re young enough).
