The finish on my Road King mufflers is getting dull and I’m thinking of getting them powder coated. Has anyone does this, or know if powder coating will a) stick, and b)handle the heat OK?
Powder coating works fine but, it’s all in the preparation work – especially on top of chrome. If they’re blasted first you won’t have any problems.
Regular powder coating won’t take the heat. If you’re going to the trouble you really need a ceramic coating.
Save your money. Prep well and spray your pipes with bar-b-que paint. Looks great, lasts ages, saves $$$s. Next question?
Good call @Ted12. I sprayed a old pair of sportster drag pipes with BBQ paint three years ago. Didn’t think it would last, but they still look great now.
Looks like ceramic BBQ paint is the ultimate solution!!!
BBQ paint everytime – won’t win a show, but won’t break the bank either.
