So S&S are rolling out the 165hp T143 motor. I guess there’s always a market for the biggest baddest anything, but it’s a step too far IMO.
The S&S website says the T143 “is an ultra performance/race engine. Longevity, engine noise, vibration and throttle sensitivity have all been comprised to reach this level of performance”.
Fair enough, there’s plenty of folks who’ll accept that, pay their money and have a total blast. BUT, if balls out performance is the game, why does S&S specifically target the touring chassis?
Call me when S&S start offering test rides!!
You’d need to budget serious money for primary and transmission upgrades for sure. That sort of torque will quickly junk your drive line. Something’s gotta give.
Bet it runs too hot!
Yeah, I was wondering about heat issues too @ultrag. We must be approaching the ‘cube limit’ for streetable Harley style push rod V-twin motors now surely?
Step too far? Maybe. Bet you’d love to nail it tho’ 🙂
Sure I would @fletch, but that doesn’t make it a good street motor!
Still no substitute for cubic inches. They’ll sell for sure
